TIES magazine is the journal of the Southern Railway Historical Association and is the namesake of the Southern Railway company magazine. It uses the title and cover color and format of the original; permission for the use of the above plus both Southern's old "Arrow" emblem and the newer circular emblem were granted to SRHA by the Norfolk Southern Corporation. SRHA is proud that the name, TIES, was given to the SRHA by NS to guarantee that it would live to help preserve the memory of the Southern Railway for future generations of historians and fans.
TIES contains stories, articles, plans, photographs and other items of historical significance to the Southern Railway. There is a talented and very knowledgeable group of editors who specialize in many areas of interest, and an equally fine group of contributors writing about stations, passenger trains, diesel locomotives, steam locomotives, operations, modeling, and Southern people at work.
Several of the south's finest rail photographers have made their work available to TIES.
Much material from the SRHA archives (which include the President's files from 1894 to 1982, plus most of the files from the President of the Central of Georgia) has appeared in the magazine, and the surface has barely been scratched; many plans and diagrams of signals, structures and rolling equipment details have appeared.
