Archives Agreement

We are proud to announce that an agreement has been signed to place the SRHA's archives on loan with the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History.

This agreement will provide the permanent home that we have been seeking for so long!  (Click here to read the press release)

Museum Executive Director Jeff Drobney, left, looks on as SRHA President John Hawkins signs the documents allowing the Southern Railway archives to be housed at the Southern Museum.

The process of moving the collection to the Southern Museum will begin within the next few weeks.  The Southern Museum will begin the process of preserving and cataloging the collection.

SRHA President John Hawkins and Secretary Dan Sparks signed the agreement with Jeff Drobney, Executive Director of the Southern Museum on August 15th.  Also in attendance was George Eichelberger, SRHA Archives Director.  George was instrumental in negotiating the agreement. The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History is the home to the General (of the famed Great Locomotive Chase from the Civil War) and the Glover Locomotive Works Collection.  Located in Kennesaw, GA, about 20 miles outside of Atlanta, the museum recently completed a major renovation.
